6. Life is a playground or nothing.

Title: Quote from "Mr Nobody", because everything is possible...

Today it's a time for few words about "Mr Nobody" - one of movies that I have in the middle of my "faves list". This movie isn't a one-time movie, but to understand it, we need at least few times in front of screen. Why? Well...

“Mr. Nobody” is a 2009 science fiction drama directed and written by Jaco Van Dormael, produced by Philippe Godeau, and starred Diane Kruger, Sarah Polley and Jared Leto. Film’s premiere took place at Venice Film Festival on September 12, 2009 where it received a ten-minute standing ovation from audience. The film won Biografilm Award and Golden Osella at Venice Film Festival in 2009, Best Cinematography at Stockholm Film Festival in 2009, Best Make-Up at Stiges – Catalonian International Film Festival also in 2009, and Audience Award at European Film Awards in 2010. Critic reviews described this film as thrilling (“The Hollywood Reporter”), phenomenal (“Première”) and as a masterpiece (“Brazil”).

120-years old Nemo Nobody tells the story of his life to young journalist. He is the oldest living men on Earth and the last mortal what makes him a very interesting object to write about. As old people usually do, Nemo raves and describes many people, places and events that seem to have no connections with each other. Those apparently different stories, symbolizing the choices that he had to make, mostly take place at the same time. However all of them are true. Nemo was able to live his life in all those ways without deciding which life path he wants to follow. He stayed with his father but in the same time he goes with his mother. He married three woman and each of them stayed the only one for him. He had a beautiful house with a swimming pool and other story he was homeless. Nemo Nobody experienced all alternative solutions, made all the possible choices.

The message of the film is that everything remains possible until the choice is made. At the beginning of the film and at the end as well, Nemo is surrounded by white things, like walls of hospital’s room and clothes, what shows us that the fate leads him back to the origins where the card of choices is blank and everything is possible because no choice was made for future.

We are bounded to our choices and our life can be whatever we want, we just have to make the right choice. Young Nemo had to decide with who he wanted to stay after his parent’s divorce. He chose his father as well as his mother. Every choice was heading him to another and every decision that he made has an impact on his life. By choosing we eliminate useless possibilities, so until the choice is made everything is possible.

“Mr. Nobody” is effective puzzle-film, every recipient can have an own interpretation but there’s no way to build the whole picture. For one the message is very clear and simple, when others are looking for deeper meaning. Like in life also here every meaning is possible until we choose which one we want to follow.

5. Will you follow me, one last time?

Title: quote from Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies trailer.

I am not a big fan of Tolkien's books. They are just not for me. I adore the world he created, but that time when I tried to read Lord Of The Rings trilogy or Hobbit for school, I didn't like them. Maybe I need a second try on Middle Earth? I was probably too young & stupid then. For sure because I'm deeply in love with the way Peter Jackson brought to life Tolkien's world of elves, hobbits, orcs, dwarfs & wizards.
Every single time I was watching each movie, I was watching it without thinking about original story from books. To be honest, every movie I saw because I was curious to see my favourite actors playing elves, knights, wizards, etc.  That's how I went to Hobbit marathon last Friday.
Plan for the night in the cinema was very clear: at 10pm begins Unexpected Journey, then 15 minutes of "pee break", after that begins The Desolation Of Smaug, and after another "pee break" begins the pre-premiere screening of The Battle Of The Five Armies
You're gonna cry, they said. You're gonna scream, they said. Well, maybe without screaming, but the last chapter of Jackson's Middle Earth journey left me quite devastated. I'm not considering myself as a geek girl, (however, I have more from a geek girl than from a normal girlish girl) or someone who gets emotional while watching movies, but OH-MY-GOD. Mr Jackson knows damn well how to play with fans' feelings!
Okay, now's the time for little...

My TOP 10 from #BOFA:
1. There's only one queen of Middle Earth. - Galadriel was stunning. Cate Blanchett is one of the most beautiful human beings & elves on Earth! It was such a pleasure to see her on a big screen once again. She had the power & the beauty. She was the saviour & the tamer. She was everything.

2. So much Watson, so less Frodo. - In LOTR trilogy, hobbits were annoying, but in Hobbit trilogy Bilbo was too cute & adorable to be annoying. Like a shy english gentelman, loyal friend & a true hero, he did everything to save the innocent & his friends.

3. #Barduil is real. - If there is something I was waiting for, it was Thranduil's & Bard's scenes. In fact, in #BOFA most of them they had together, so I was double happy! My inner fangirl was screaming, crying & floating on a cloud 9. Not like after I came back home, I was scrolling down tumblr for any of #Barduil posts. Not at all.

4. Go, find him, and then, you'll find the love of your life, Lego. PS. She loved you. - That was just heartbreaking. As long as I thought that Thrandy's the most perfect sassy divah eva, but still a total bitch & cold hearted asshole, he showed how wrong I was. His son was standing against him to protect the beloved girl who is in love with a dwarf, and some time after that Thranduil tells Legolas that his mother loved him! It melted my heart. + he told him to look for Aragorn. Is it normal that I was sitting there with tears in my eyes, almost saying out loud "tell him that name for oakenshield's sake!"? Well, he didn't. Just go and find a traveler and you'll find the love of your life in a dwarf named Gimli.

5. This is war. - The battle was epic! A bit different than those in LOTR, but also EPIC. All against one enemy. A promising unity, I would say.
6. Sense of humor is the key to success. - Every "talking" scene was decorated with a little humor. Thranduil rolling eyes over Gandalf. Dain calling Thrandy a "pretty forest fairy". Bilbo's facial expressions.
7. Badass Elrond is so badass. - The Matrix tought him how to fight & he used this skill here. Very satisfying.

8. I am fire. I am death. - We can't forget about the big bad lizard! Okay, he's not a lizard, but the greatest dragon I've ever seen. Pity, that he couldn't survive.
9. L'Oreal commercial. - Don't you think that Hobbit movies are 3 big L'Oreal commercials? Just look at dwarves hair, they are so messy, yet artistic. What with elves' hair? Who cares that they are fake. Those hair are still better than mine, what is quite uncool.

10. #OneLastTime - As it is probably the last Middle Earth movie, there had to be a special song for that occasion. "The Last Goodbye" sung by Billy Boyd is one of the most beautiful goodbyes ever. Not to mention that he played Pippin in LOTR trilogy! Nice way to connect both trilogies.

Not-so-TOP things from #BOFA:
1. Smaug vs. Bard - like seriously? Everyone was laughing, while I sat there asking "Are you serious? Like, really?" & I thought that someone went a bit too much with the flow of directing. Well, I was so wrong. That was nothing in comparison with...
2. Jump, Legolas, jump! - I am wondering. Did Elrond went for another Matrix trip & took Peter Jackson with him, or Mr Jackson took blue pill of blissful ignorance before shooting this scene? No one, NO ONE, is able to jump like that & for that long. Even the elven prince. Even Legolas Greenleaf. I know that similar scenes we were able to see in LOTR, but there they were more natural, not so fake like here. Hope you know now that you overdosed blue pills or wine from Thranduil's basment, Peter.

3. What the f. are you looking at, Thorin? - If you killed someone, you should go away. No more lookbacks & for ring's sake, don't you dare to follow the dead body, because it may hurt you. Or even kill you.
4. And the Oscar for the most annoying performance goes to... - ALFRID! How this piece of troll's trash survived the whole movie is a mystery to me.
5. Interspecies love. - I'm a tolerant person. Yes, I am. But this made me laugh more than it should. I totally get it. Kili was unbelievably handsome & tall for a dwarf, but it was just a bit too much. Can you imagine faling in romantic love with a hamster? No? Me neither. Anyway, it was a clear message that love is blind & we can't tell our heart who we want to love. + love is painfull. As f**k.

So, at the moment I'm looking for a company. I want to share another screening of #BOFA with someone after X-mas. Hope to find someone brave enough to handle me.

To these memories I will hold
With your blessing I will go
To turn at last to paths that lead home
And though where the road then takes me
I cannot tell
We came all this way
But now comes the day
To bid you farewell

PS. Please, don't take my post too seriously. I really loved the movie! I just need to throw some things out from my head.

4. You're just my kind of drug the reason that I'm always on the run

Title: lyrics from You're Not The One by Zane Carney

From time to time, I have those rare days of searching videos on youtube. I usually prefer listening to music from my CDs, or through spotify, but to find something new youtube is the best place.
Once, I was searching for videos of Bono & this is how I met Zane Carney.
First, I saw his brother - Reeve, who was playing on broadway in Spiderman: Turn Off The Dark musical written by Bono & The Edge from U2. Then there was a family band called Carney. But Zane's solo music is something much more interesting.

Zane is a guitarist, singer, and songwriter. He can be known for his work with John Mayer, as his tur guitarist.
Confluence is his first album, where we not only can listen to music written by Zane, but we are also able to hear his voice. Second album Amalgam is only instrumental. Pure eargasm for my ears. Magnetic, relaxing and addicting. Totally different than rock and roll presented by Carney band. Bute, hey! Check it out on his site http://www.zanecarney.com/#music

3. Men don't fear swords. They fear monsters.

Title: quote from Dracula Untold movie.

Last Tuesday I went to finally see Dracula Untold with Luke Evans as Vlad The Impaler. Now I'm sitting in front of my computer, in my favourite oversized red sweater & with my mint apple tea, trying to organize my thoughts about this movie.
Well... (I really should stop starting sentences with 'well')

Since I saw a teaser trailer few months ago, I was hoping that this is the movie I am waiting for. That it's more historical than vampire movie. Thank heavens that it wasn't my only reason why I wanted to see it.

Let's be honest here. As a historical movie about Vlad III Dracula (also known as Vlad The Impaler, or just Dracula) it's pretty bad. No chronological order. No real names. It was very hard for me to not start screaming, that he's wife was not Mirena, and his son should be named Minhea. His first wife, which name we don't know, threw herself off the tower into the Argeş River below the castle during surrounding the Poenari castle by Turkish army, yes but they were led by Vlad's brother Radu, not by sultan Mehmed. In the whole movie there were more and more historical mistakes, but as much as I wanted to see something good about Vlad, I was also hungry for a Dracula movie that I can enjoy.

Dracula Untold is a very nice movie about medieval superhero. At the moment, when we live in era of unconditional love for heroes from comic books, the true story about Vlad The Impaler could be a missed shot in the taste of consumers. Some of us may want to see a movie with a plot worth remembering, but producers want to sell their product, and that's why Dracula is full of  visual effects, poor storyline and few technical fails. However, we must take a moment to appreciate Luke Evans as Vlad. He was a perfect choice!

As a movie about Vlad The Impaler, from me Dracula Untold gets 2 stars, but as a superhero movie it gets 8 stars from 10.

Alex is very happy to hear, that it is possible that Luke Evans will be Dracula in more movies. *happydance*

2. In the city of blinding lights.

Title: lyrics from City Of Blinding Lights by U2.

Counting days to events is one of those weird things I like to do. Counting to concerts, festivals, even to birthdays! But sometimes I have those moments of insane obsession about movies, when I am counting for the movie premiere. Just like now, when I'm waiting for "Dracula Untold" with Luke Evans as a Vlad The Impaler. Just few more days... Promise to post my review here! Already got my ticket to see it so.. Tuesday, come faster, please!
Anyway...

Last year in October, I was counting to my first trip abroad. It was the second thing I was THAT excited for in my entire life. I was going to London, a place from the top of my "too see" list, and there I was about to meet my idols. Three men with their music that changed me & my life. Let's call them The Three Diablos. I kinda like this nickname for them. However, this period of time was full of excitement, shivers, plans, laugh & most important - faith that dreams are possible.

Stuff with London theme can be found anywhere in almost every shop. I used to believe that London isn't as cool as New York or Los Angeles, but everything has changed. I found myself feeling like at home there, even though it's one of the most dangerous cities in Europe. If there could be a chance to move out from Poland, London would be my pick for sure.

Hot chocolate with a view at London Eye - perfect for cold day in the middle of November.
My favourite spot was that side of Thames from where I could drink hot chocolate from Starbucks & stare at London Eye talking about nothing with my bestie. It was amazing to feel so good in a different country far from home. Yes, I could live there.

Buckingham Palace.
We both loved squirrels in St. James's Park. They were so cute! But Buckingham Palace was majestic! Big, & breathtaking, unfortunately we missed Changing the Guards. At least we have something left for another trip on our "to do" list.

Me at Waterloo Station wondering where to go.
Red buses at Westminster Bridge.

What made me smile? A lot of red buses & characteristic taxicabs, especially around Trafalgar Square. I was so fascinated by this view. Finally I've had an opportunity to see with my eyes things that I used to see only in pictures or paintings. Maybe it's not a big deal for someone, but for me it was.

Trafalgar Square with National Gallery.
My 2nd favourite spot was Trafalgar Square. Full of tourists & street artists, with a very long queue to National Gallery, with a Nelson's Column, became one of the many reasons why I love London. It was so magic to be there, where action of one of the books I've read takes place. With the eyes of my imagination I saw main characters, what they were doing, where they were going... Awesome feeling.
Millennium Dome with O2 Arena inside.
To be fully honest, nothing of those above compares to the Millennium Dome with O2 Arena. Not because it was prettier or more interesting (it wasn't!), but because it brought me the most beautiful memories from this trip. I've spent there about 12 hours. Most of the time, it was just waiting in line, but we've got pizza as a dinner from band & band crew, & we've also met few very nice people there.
Anyway, the main point of our trip was concert. It started with soundcheck. The band was obviously in a great mood & goofing around on the stage was the best proof of it. Then for me there was meet & greet with the band, including signing session & picture with The Three Diablos Thirty Seconds To Mars. Believe it or not, but it wasn't that easy to pose for a photo. There even wasn't enough time to think about smile or put it on your face! The concert itself was a pleasant change from concerts in Poland. People were calm, if you can be calm at rock concert, & you could see whole families, grandparents with their grandkids, or parents with their kids. In Poland it is quite hard to find someone above 18 years old at their show, pretty sure that it's because of how media here describe them, so yeah, I was surprised.
Natural History Museum
T-Rex is "alive"!
Since I remember, I always wanted to see this famous museum. My childhood dream came true & I could spend some time with loud T-Rex at Natural History Museum. The building itself made a big impression on me.

Mailbox near St. James's Park.
Street next to Trafalgar Square.
Audience during Thirty Seconds To Mars's show, song called "City Of Angels" at O2 Arena.
Squirrel in St. James's Park.
Victoria Memorial in front of Buckingham Palace.

I miss London. I miss its multiculturalism, freedom of being different. You can wear whatever you want & it's nothing shocking in London. You can speak the weirdest language on earth & still it's nothing shocking there. London is one of those places where time stopped running centuries ago, but still flows in its own rythm.

Hope to get there back sooner than soon.

1. This is the life on mars.

Title: lyrics from Buddha For Mary by Thirty Seconds To Mars

Honestly, I don't like blogspot. Wordpress is much better in my personal opinion, but this time I thought that it will be good to know the "enemy" & check what this place has to offer. I will write about things that I like, movies that I saw lately or about music that touched my heart. In shortcut, I'm going to show you the world with my eyes.
Anyway, now I would like to introduce myself.

I am 23 years old student of english philology from a city in a country of pierogies, vodka, beautiful women & the best fans of sports/music/etc in the world - Poland. My name is Monika but most of my friends call me Alex, what has been my nickname for years.
Life's too short to waste it on worries, so I always try to find a reason to smile in any situation. Small things can make me happy. I love green pineapple tea & chilling with my closest friends. As a shy person, I also enjoy spending time on my own. My passion is writing stories, mostly fan fiction, but there is a huge part of me with an aspiration to publish my own book. I am relaxing while taking photos of everything. My pictures are not art, but memories frozen in time.
My biggest dream is to travel around the world & see some places in Romania, Norway, UK, South & North America, etc. I love traveling. Being on the road is what I was born for, it feels like that every time I'm on a trip.
If you would ask me what are the most important things to me the answer wouldn't be easy. Why? Well... First are my family & friends, because they are for me & they support me. Second: music - keeps my heart beating, that's why I feel so safe in all this chaos called concerts or music festivals. Finally: dreams. Someone said once that future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams, I deeply believe in that.
I live by two simple rules: “Don’t regret anything you do, because in the end, it makes you who you are” & “Try and fail but never fail to try”.

This is me - Alex, redhead girl & mints dealer, at your service.
